When in that dark corridor I stood
Knowing nowhere to go or how to move
When I took my steps forward,
Something was pulling me backwards
Was it something? Or was it someone?
I don’t know…I never could make out…
When that dark corridor called me to go
I could feel its sound echo in my ears
Still, I dint know which way to move…
I tried putting my steps forward…
The noise of my foot steps also echoed in the corridor
Still, my mind was pulling me back
And the threads that bound my mind was strangling in itself…
I leaned against the wall next to me
And my bangles fell on the ground…
Broken and shattered into pieces many…
And still I felt some haunting music inside me
Beating harder and harder
The walls now became stained with blood
I covered my face inside my hair…
And still stood their silent…
Those pieces falling on the floor…
That too echoed through the corridor
Something was pulling me back…
Still, I dint know how to move
And I stood there silent and stunt…
In a stance as though blankness occupied me…
Without even moving a single step forward…

Red, red, red , blew the wind
It blew the curtains to and fro
Flashed memoirs good and bad
Through my mind it flashed a bright!
It all seemed like illusions
like mixed colors splashed in oil
I couldn't make out blue or yellow
my emotions all seemed oily stained
It was red, red, red
Red within me, a sudden gush of love
Love, blank, un-understood
Red, dropped tears with a rush of anger
The mixed notes of ambient music
Thronged into my ears and still...
I couldn't make out why it was red
Why it was red within me...
It blew the curtains to and fro
Flashed memoirs good and bad
Through my mind it flashed a bright!
It all seemed like illusions
like mixed colors splashed in oil
I couldn't make out blue or yellow
my emotions all seemed oily stained

Love, blank, un-understood
Red, dropped tears with a rush of anger
The mixed notes of ambient music
Thronged into my ears and still...
I couldn't make out why it was red
Why it was red within me...
It played till its highest tone
And broke at the peak and left me….astound!
Like a break fall of emotions
Emotions un-understood, complete love, anger and anguish...

The music flowed down the stream
Down the mountains and hills’ esteem
Like the twinkling ripples on the river
Or like the melodious way the birds quiver
She played the keys both black and white
Tunes were her dreams that played! Played with mite…
Her eyes were glowing, glowing with hope…
But only if her vision to hear could cope…
The melody that came was sweet as honey
Which would not melt away even if sunny…
Her fingers played the magic all…
But her ears could hear nothing at all…
I can hear her sweet melodious song…
Which she has been playing for time along…
To her they are melodies unheard, bitter…
Bitter to her…but in real, melodies unheard…sweeter…

CALCUTTA NEWS
After a few months gap, director Blessy has come up with a promising new film, Calcutta News. Unlike his usual films which are family based, this is a very moving and fast movie. Majority of the film being shot in Calcutta gives it liveliness and energy. It is mainly shot outdoors.
A continuous blue tone has been used for the film which helps the film to have a documentary effect. The film can be called as a ‘film inside a film’ wherein the main story is being portrayed as a story taken by the hero Ajith (Dileep) a journalist and reporter of Calcutta news channel. Featuring the ‘shadows’ of Calcutta, the movie has succeeded in showing the ills and the malpractices in the city. Holding nothing unreal, the film is full of facts.
The female character played by Meera Jasmine steals the show. She has once again presented a marvelous onscreen presence and dedication in acting. Dileep has improved in the acting style and the hair style change has helped him to have a completely different look. One point worth mentioning is the transition shots. The transitions have been done so uniquely that the audience can get the real flow of the film.
The music score also has importance and the slow and melodious music is soothing for the ears. The love between the main characters has also been portrayed well. In some scenes, violence is even depicted by silence.
Cinematography by S.Kumar needs a big clap and the editing work has also been done superbly. The movie used more of documentary type shots.
The director has succeeded in keeping the audience rooted. The film has suspense, facts, love and thriller scenes.
The other characters of the film include Innocent, Bindu Panicker, Indrajith, etc.
This is a sure box- office hit and worth your money. So don’t miss it!!!

It’s like the axe piercing into my heart
When it sways to and fro the trees body
Those ancestors alive since years thousands
The mere existence for survival of human life on earth
With their wide arms spread to
Protect the species on earth
They live because they want us to live
They breathe to give us the oxygen we need
Alas! They are no more here…
The kingly pride which was there to take us along
They were cut and cut and cut
By the mere people who are not even their son old!
Leaving just sand and dust
Dust that blinds the vision of man
Now its all parched and dry
There is no life in the paths we walk
Now I can see some wires and iron bars
Which are the embryos of industrialization
When its all taking a new life
No one ever thinks of the trees which once lived there…
And they say…cut down a tree and
Plant two…
But may I ask! Who will pay for the time that he needs to grow?
When it sways to and fro the trees body
Those ancestors alive since years thousands
The mere existence for survival of human life on earth
With their wide arms spread to
Protect the species on earth

The sea will gush into the shore
With its rage and anger burning in it
Still you won’t realize how much you loved me
When it’s all calm and she lays silent,
Silent more than the deepest depth,
That time you will realize how much you loved me…
The fire will spread its anger to its maximum
Burning and growling as though to swallow the world
Even then you wouldn’t realize how much you loved me
When it has been suppressed to die
Die and become ashes…she will lay silent…
Then you will realize how much you loved me…
The wind would blow with fury and anger
It would blind your vision spreading blurriness around
Even then you would not realize how much you loved me
When it all stops and the world is silent
Silence that can make you feel deafened
Then you will realize how much you loved me
When I scream about what you meant to me
When there is a sea of tears that tell how much you meant to me
When I cry in a state where I can't hear the outside world…
You would not realize how much you loved me…
But, when I become silent…silent like the silence after storm…
When my words never speak of you…when my silence haunts you…
That time you will realize how much you loved me…
With its rage and anger burning in it
Still you won’t realize how much you loved me
When it’s all calm and she lays silent,
Silent more than the deepest depth,
That time you will realize how much you loved me…

The veteran film maker Adoor Gopalakrishnan, five years after ‘Nizhalkuthu’ has presented the movie goers with a new gift- “Naalu Penungal”. Based on four short stories of the Malayalam veteran writer Thakazhy Sivasankara Pillai, the movie is divided into four parts. This kind of story narration is rare. The film rotates around the life of four women where in everyone has been portrayed with equal importance.
The first part of the film is sub-titled ‘Oru Niyamalankhanathinte Kadha’ which means ‘Story of breach of Law’. The woman in this part is Kunjipeenu (Padmapriya) who plays the role of a sex worker who later chooses to live by working as a road worker. It portrays how the society treats such women even of they have decided to live in good lines in one part of their life. It is about 20 minutes in duration.
The second part of the film is sub-titled ‘Kanyaka’ (Virgin/unmarried) which focuses on the life of Kumari( Geethu Mohandas), married to Narayanan(Nandu) who fails to look after her. She is a peasant and earns money for her family. Her dialogues are less, yet her character is strong enough to compensate with the dialogues.
The third part of the film named ‘Chinnu Amma’ is about the life of Chinnu (Manju Pillai) who does not have children in her life. She is a naïve lady yet strong enough to protect herself against a sin that should not be committed. Mukesh also does his part of the film well.
The final part of the film is named ‘Nithya Kanyaka’ (Never married/Spinster) is one which revolves around the life of three women. The title role is played by Nandita Das as Kamakshi. She is the eldest among the four children of the family. Kavya Madhavan who plays Subadra is the younger sister of Kamakshi. Remya Nambeeshan also plays sister role. This part tells how a lady can live alone without support from anyone in a society. It portrays a woman who was once dependant yet became strong in the end.
Watching Naalu Pennungal was like reading four short stories. Each story was well narrated and the viewers were not left confused. The Malayalam film industry which has given women important roles, have again done justice in this film. At the end of the film, every character remains engraved in our minds. K.P.A.C Lalita, Murali, Manoj K.Jayan, Ravi Vallathol, Asokan are some of the other characters in the film. The cinematograohy was by M.J Radhakrishnan and he has succeeded in bringing the raw realities of life on to screen. All the characters were given equal importance. Dialogues were less and crisp. The background score was also soothing to the ears.
This film was premiered in Toronto and has also been selected for the Indian panorama (International Film Festival Of India) and for the competition section of Int’l Film Festival of Kerala.
A serious film goer will surely not be disappointed watching this film. It also moves through four different phases of time and it is portrayed through the difference in the dialogues and the attitude of people.

She chirped on the window pane
With her tiny feathers flapping light
Sweet and small did she look
Delight twinkled in her eyes always
She sat on my window every dawn
With her melodious enchanting voice
Did she wake me up daily
No alarm did I need, for she was there for me
I used to long to hear her, everyday
But, one day I shew her away
Alas! She never comes now
Her melody never wakes me up anymore
Dear, my heart wants to speak to you
You were my silent friend
Someone who always remained in my thoughts
You were so dear to me…

ORE KADAL was a film that I longed to see from the very beginning of its shooting schedule. After a melodious and beautiful film Akale by ShyamPrasad, this was one film I was waiting for. Orekadal is a story that revolves around 4 main people namely Deepthi (Meera Jasmine), Dr.S.R Nathan (Mammootty), Jayan (Narein) and Bela (Ramya Krishnan). Deepthi is married to Jayan with a kid. Jayan in his busy schedule unknowingly forgets to look after the needs of Deepthi in the way she wants him to. Deepthi, a girl deprived of the pleasant and colourful childhood still tries to seek it in her married life. She meets Dr.Nathan when she is in a trauma to get some money for the treatment of her ill son. Dr. Nathan, a pure economist and an alcoholic, who sees life only in economic terms, helps her just out of need. He doesn’t have any sort of emotional feeling towards her. He is a person who tries to isoclate himself from all sort of relationships that could exist. Slowly, Deepthi is unknowingly drawn into the magnetic grip of Nathan which she could get from her husband. She starts to love him but, when she comes to know about the mind set of Nathan, she feels cheated and guilty of being into a relationship with Nathan without her husband’s knowledge. There is a cyclone that is created in Deepthi’s innocent mind which forms the rest of the story.
The director Shyamprasad is always expected to do something different. And that has surely been fulfilled in this film. The music by Ousepachan is truly haunting and rings in our ears for a long time. The cameraman Azhagappan has done a wonderful job. The movie is mainly shot indoors in the apartment where the characters stay. The colours used in the film a subtle and pleasing to the eyes. Narein has done his part well though he didn’t actually have much to do. He is an innocent husband. Another strong character is Bela. Ramya Krishnan has come with a strong performance through this character. A character where fate has shown its dark side, yet someone who holds on to life and who gives a moral support to Nathan. Mammootty has as usual come out with a nice performance. He being a senior actor, does not need much explanations here. He has done justice to his character as an alcoholic economist! Meera jasmine steals the show as she plays the central character. Minute details like the movement of the eye, a smile etc convey so much to the audience. She doesn’t have much dialogue. The movie floats on the music and the audience is kept flowing with the music too. Such a concept is purely unacceptable in our society, yet if you look into the innocence of Deepthi, some people may be able to accept her emotions. Anyway, this is a beautiful film one can see…it’s too delicate and fragile…I could personally not accept the concept completely, but as a film its worth watching…all music lovers will have there feet tapping even after hours of the film…
Hats off to Shyam Prasad and Crew.

The air around me is getting colder
Colder that I feel my veins become tighter
My vision seems to see opaqueness…
Opaqueness means….I feel I cannot see anything…
Everything seems to be dark…
dark like the darkness in the deepest corner of a volcano…
the sea which had its bluish beauty…
beauty like the beauty sparkling in a new brides eyes…
is right now turning black…
black as though its calling me to drench myself in it…
To drown me in that ocean of frightening death
death…yes…death…
The walls around me seem to come closer…
Closer like the atoms in a rough solid
It’s not allowing me to breathe….
To breathe the life saving oxygen…I am deprived…
I can feel the walls ceasing the oxygen I am to breathe…
I can feel my veins tighten
I am not able to see the world anymore…
I just don’t feel like seeing the world anymore…
Black disguises…death….that is all that is pondering me…
I feel as though I am to go with death…
Travel on the path of death
Oh God!!! What is happening to me…?
Is death calling me…or is it that…
I want death to take me away???
Colder that I feel my veins become tighter
My vision seems to see opaqueness…

“Where There Is A Will, There Is A Way”.
Nothing on earth is impossible in the present era. Man is said to be a social being, creative genius and a thinking animal. No other living organism has been blessed with so many characteristics. It has always been man who created things out of existing things and it has always been man destroying the very same things made! If man decides something must be done then, he can surely do it, apart he puts his maximum effort into it!
Well friends let us think of a CLEAN INDIA. The thought of such a situation right now would seem a little bit impossible, but actually is it so? No! It is absolutely not! As said earlier, where there is a will, there is a way. Keeping in mind the busy schedule of the people in the country, we cannot expect all of us going around and cleaning the country! There are simpler ways to implement this. Making the “duty” lighter, we just have to focus on our own home. Just that little piece of land where in we stay! First of all, take a look around your home. It might be scrambled with grass, plastic, and useless household items. Well, that’s what I find around my home! Staying in a rented house, we obviously have limitations! All that we should do is to clean the area around our home…and I mean it…just clean our own home and not our neighbors! Well, what other idea can be simpler than this? Neighbors would clean their own homes. And when all the homes in a ward a clean, one whole ward in a city is clean! And like that, all wards in a city can be cleaned. When all the wards in the city are clean, a whole Panchayat would be clean and when all the Panchayats are clean, one whole district is clean. And as you know, when all districts are clean, the state is clean…and when the state is clean, the country is clean! And there we are! Our mission possible!!!
Well, the question as to where to dump the waste materials will surely arise. For this the government should adopt better methods for waste management. This too can go through the same process! If we manage the waste of our own “little” home, then the whole process would follow. Getting accustomed to nuclear families, the thought of managing a home with a maximum of four members is not that much a difficult task. Anyways, here I cannot forget mentioning the use of plastics. It might seem a bit difficult in the beginning, but practice makes a man perfect! Start practicing and in due course of time we will be happy with what we are doing to the society! If we could run with our feet and talk flawlessly with our tongue, which was indeed gained only through practice and practice here means the experience that we went through, all the time “unknowingly”!!! When we get used to using paper bags always, we may surprisingly in the end find it difficult to shift to plastic!
Dear friends, every thing that would lead to a developed country depends on how the people of the country love their country. So, if we need to love our country, we need to love our home first. If dedicated love starts from our own homes, then we would be proud to say that we belong to the completely Clean India! And this indirectly would surely reduce the number of deaths and diseases occurring due to the unclean surroundings! So dear friends! The future of our nation lies just at your minds view! Start loving your home and end up in the result where in the Country would love you!!!

I row my boat daily
across that river which flows next to my home
i have my sister home...
who is weak at her heart...
i am just 14 and so is she....,
we were born twins...
my mother is not with us...
she left us and went long back away...
my father and my sister are only home..
my father toils to make us grow
i cherish my dreams daily of getting great marks
and making a job...
for that is the reason why I row my boat and walk a mile...
and then board a bus and go to school...
life seems so tough in the eyes of others...
but, I am so busy that I really cannot see the
tough part life....
i feel it a blessing to be engaged in my life...
at this small age...
life seems nice yet a bit hard...
but the big dreams that i have with never
keep my hands away
from rowing the boat of my heart!!!

A silent music is still playing on the car stereo…
The mild breeze is silently combing my hair…
I love traveling…that too in a car with my favorite song on the stereo..
And specially when He…my best friend is there with me
I enjoy the trip even more…
He is my friend still…and perhaps he is still my friend
Because I haven’t told him yet that I Love him…
Just a small fear in me…
That I may lose him if I ever say that I love him…
We usually travel like this…
Our favorite place is the lovers’ park…
Usually lovers go there…but for us it’s different…
We are friends…
There…couples in their own world…cuddling together…
Sharing moments of tender happiness…
He and I just sit there talking to each other…
Sometimes we don’t even talk…
We just keep looking at each other…
Maybe it just a feeling…sometimes when I look into his eyes…
I have felt that he too loves me…
Maybe he does…what if he is also having that small fear
That he would lose my friendship…
When I see others I just dream of me being one among them…
Though I have the fondest person I want to be with me…
Just sitting a touch away from me…
The thought that I cannot even hold his hands…
With a thought of love that is not like a friend’s…
Gives a pain somewhere inside me…
But, just in case I lose him in the path of trying to get
Something more…
The thought that he’s my best friend…
Keeps me happy n cheerful
Though at times I feel…
At least once …if he would tell me ….”I Love You Dear…”
The mild breeze is silently combing my hair…
I love traveling…that too in a car with my favorite song on the stereo..
And specially when He…my best friend is there with me
I enjoy the trip even more…
He is my friend still…and perhaps he is still my friend
Because I haven’t told him yet that I Love him…
Just a small fear in me…
That I may lose him if I ever say that I love him…
We usually travel like this…
Our favorite place is the lovers’ park…
Usually lovers go there…but for us it’s different…
We are friends…
There…couples in their own world…cuddling together…
Sharing moments of tender happiness…
He and I just sit there talking to each other…
Sometimes we don’t even talk…
We just keep looking at each other…
Maybe it just a feeling…sometimes when I look into his eyes…
I have felt that he too loves me…
Maybe he does…what if he is also having that small fear
That he would lose my friendship…
When I see others I just dream of me being one among them…
Though I have the fondest person I want to be with me…
Just sitting a touch away from me…
The thought that I cannot even hold his hands…
With a thought of love that is not like a friend’s…
Gives a pain somewhere inside me…
But, just in case I lose him in the path of trying to get
Something more…
The thought that he’s my best friend…
Keeps me happy n cheerful
Though at times I feel…
At least once …if he would tell me ….”I Love You Dear…”
